Rosanna Cordero-Stutz

Assistant Director, Miami Dade County Police Department

With over 27+ years of dedicated law enforcement experience, Assistant Director Rosanna Cordero-Stutz is an accomplished leader with progressive experience working in a variety of assignments, analyzing, and implementing best practices and operational changes to improve the effectiveness of the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD).

She was previously assigned to oversee Police Services as acting Assistant Director, which included all patrol functions for eight distinct districts. Airport District, Seaport Operations Bureau, three contractual cities, and the Special Patrol Bureau.

Throughout her career, Assistant Director Cordero-Stutz served with great distinction in a variety of assignments, including uniformed patrol, and tactical and special investigations, in both an administrative and managerial capacity of the Robbery Investigative Section, Robbery Intervention Detail (RID), Street Terror Offender Program, the Robbery Clearinghouse, the Homicide Bureau, Professional Compliance Bureau (Internal Affairs), the Economic Crimes Bureau’s Mortgage Fraud Task Force, and the Media Relations Bureau – Public Information Officer.

As Police Division Chief, she successfully administered the Division’s budget, grants, and Law Enforcement Trust Funds; developed problem-solving strategies to address quality of life issues; maintained professional relations with the diverse communities, with businesses and religious and public leaders.  She maintained professional relationships with the State Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives via Task Forces.

In 2022, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Support Services. As Assistant Director, she is involved in all departmental operations; from contract negotiations to the overall strategic planning, while actively participating in policy/decision making processes affecting the Department and Miami-Dade County as a whole. She is responsible for the overall operations of Communications, Central Records, Personnel Management, and Cyber Crimes Bureaus.

Assistant Director Cordero-Stutz received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with honors from Marist College, a master’s degree in public administration, and a certification in Human Resource Policy and Management from Florida International University.

In addition, Assistant Director Cordero-Stutz holds graduate certificates from the Executive Leadership Program – Nova University; FBI National Academy – Session #265; the Florida Police Chiefs STARS program; the Police Executive Leadership Institute (PELI); and in September 2023, graduated from the FBI National Executive Institute for Leadership – Session 46.

Assistant Director Cordero-Stutz currently serves as the First Vice President of the Florida Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates, the largest Alumni Chapter in the world.
